ISWHAT?! is a Cincinnati based Hiphop improvisation collective led by Napoleon Maddox since 1996. They have toured the world, sharing stages with KRS One, Aloe Blacc, Femi Kuti, Archie Shepp, Arrested Development, The Roots, Tony Allen, Saul Williams and Antibalas. The blend is raw jazz beats, bass, saxophone lines full of fire, and engaged lyricism. All welded together on stage by beat boxing and spontaneous interaction with the audience. ISWHAT?! has solidified a reputation for originality with their dynamic live performances and numerous innovative studio recordings.
